Behind the Camera

My interest in photography came as a child. My dad had a love for photography and I grew up watching him taking photos with different cameras. The old accordian style camera with bellows always amazed me. My dad started with the camera his mother (Callie) purchased, and she was born in 1910 so think about that. And I now have Great Grandma Callie's camera. I cherish it. I think thats where it all started and so I began shooting photos of landscape, family, etc.

I later went on to college where photography was my favoritie subject, so much more fun than the degree I was after. So I left that college and went on to the Ohio Institute of Photography and loved it even more. One of my favorite shooting expeditions was street photography, it was so much fun and people were so warm to allow me to take their photo. I started shooting action shots at a motocross track, I built my own darkroom, and developed my own film so I could print 8 x 10 photos to sell back to the motocross riders. I loved it! And technology became digital and I moved on. My favorites are still taking pictures of toddlers, animals and nature. You know capturing the moment that says it all! And of course I will always love photographing beautiful hotrods. After all it is true art.

Twenty years ago, I purchased a 73 acre farm, named it Silver Creek Stables and started building, I built barns, built fences bought eight horses and then I built this amazing post and beam wedding venue and large greenhouse. Tdoay I create elegant weddings and grow beautiful flowers. So now I photograph wedding guests with their children and horses with brides. Which brings us back to business, I have created a studio in this elegant post and beam venue for family photographs, graduating seniors, engagments and more. And my favorite.... creating scenes for special photography sessions, like Christmas minis, and more.
